We need not only good people... we need the best and the brightest because the jobs they're undertaking affect every American."
Through governmentwide initiatives and partnerships, OPM Director John Berry is preparing the Federal workforce for the challenges of the 21st century.
Working with President Obama, Director Berry has focused on Veterans Employment in the Federal government, reforming and improving the Federal hiring process, and implementing the training, benefits and work/life balance programs that help make the Federal government a great place to work.
With the help of agencies across government, we’ve made steady progress. In 2009, 24% of Federal new hires were Veterans. In 2011, Veterans were 28.3% of new hires.
Again working with agency partners, OPM has made it easier to apply for jobs, with shorter job descriptions, simpler applications, and more frequent contact with our applicants.
Under Director Berry’s leadership, OPM continues to pursue our mission to recruit, retain and honor a world-class workforce.
