The Producer Price Index for finished goods advanced 0.2 percent in January, seasonally adjusted. Prices for finished goods declined 0.3 percent in December and 0.4 percent in November.

Mortgage delinquency and foreclosure among youngest baby boomers
Among the youngest baby boomer—those born from 1957 to 1964—who owned a home in 2008, those who held negative equity in their home had delinquency and foreclosure rates that were several times higher than the rates for homeowners with equity in their homes.

Illness-related work absences in January 2013 highest since February 2008
Absences resulting from a worker's own illness or injury were higher in January 2013 than in any month since February 2008. In January 2013, nearly 2.9 million people who usually work full time worked part time during the survey reference week because of their own illness, injury, or medical appointment. Another 1.2 million employed people did not work at all during the survey reference week because of illness or injury.

Extended mass layoffs, fourth quarter 2012
Employers in the private nonfarm sector initiated 1,674 extended mass layoff events in the fourth quarter of 2012 that resulted in the separation of 319,639 workers from their jobs.

Import prices fall 1.3 percent, export prices rise 1.1 percent, January 2012–January 2013
Over the 12-month period from January 2012 to January 2013, import prices declined 1.3 percent and export prices rose 1.1 percent.
