Easy Ways to Save Energy

Energy Star
ENERGY STAR is a government-backed program helping businesses and individuals protect the environment through superior energyefficiency.
Results are already adding up. Americans, with the help of ENERGY STAR, saved enough energy in 2005 alone to avoid greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to those from 23 million cars — all while saving $12 billion on their utility bills.
Help Thy Neighbor
The Help Thy Neighbor Heating Fund utilizes public andprivatedonations to extend assistance to Hoosiers who need help paying their gas heating bills and who do not qualify for other assistance programs.
The Help Thy Neighbor program will run from January 1, 2006 through May 31, 2006. Any funds remaining after May 31, 2006 will be directed to the state’s home weatherization programs, which provide long-term remedies to high gas bills.
Families whose incomes are 150 percent to 200 percent of the government-established poverty levels are eligible for help from this fund. Governor Mitch Daniels has called on fellow Hoosiers to donate to the Help Thy Neighbor Fund to ensure the fund helps as many people as possible.
Change A Light Pledge
ENERGY STAR asks that each person pledges to save energy and help protect the environment by changing a light in your home with a qualified ENERGY STAR product.
