Abstract: To provide the user with a general idea of areas where final critical habitat for Pecos bluntnose shiner (Notropis simus pecosensis) occur based on the description provided in the Federal Register. The geographic extent includes DeBaca, Chaves and Eddy Counties, New Mexico. FWS Note: There is a discrepancy between the Federal Register text description which has the northern most point of the critical habitat in T1N;R26E;Sec 2 whereas the Federal Register map has the beginning in T1N;R26E;Sec1. This dataset reflects the information as provided in the map and confirmed by FWS staff. Purpose: Critical habitat are areas considered essential for the conservation of a listed species. These areas provide notice to the public and land managers the importance of these areas to the conservation of this species. Special protections and/or restrictions are possible in areas where federal funding, permits, licenses, authorizations, or actions occur or are required.
