Northside Gang Member Sentenced to 46 Months for Selling Methamphetamine
BOISE – Andres Marcos Trejo, 24, of Nampa, Idaho, was sentenced today to 46 months in prison for distributing methamphetamine, U.S. Attorney Wendy J. Olson announced. U.S. District Judge Edward J. Lodge also ordered Trejo to serve three years of supervised release following his prison term. Trejo pleaded guilty to the charge on January 24, 2012.
According to the plea agreement, on October 7, 2010, Trejo sold methamphetamine to another person at his residence, a farmhouse located between Nampa and Melba, Idaho. Although Trejo denies gang membership, he is documented by law enforcement as a member of a “Norteno,” or Northside street gang active in the Treasure Valley. Trejo and ten other gang members and associates were indicted in October and November last year for a number of drug trafficking and firearm offenses. Trejo is the third person associated with the Northside street gang to be sentenced in the past two weeks for distributing methamphetamine in the Treasure Valley. Shawn Gordon was sentenced to 121 months in prison and Terra McFetridge was sentenced yesterday to 33 months.
“Methamphetamine trafficking by members of violent street gangs poses a significant threat to our communities,” said Olson. “Today's sentence underscores federal, state and local law enforcement's commitment to aggressively prosecute those who seek to distribute this dangerous drug in Idaho.”
The case was investigated by the Treasure Valley Metro Violent Crimes Task Force and is being prosecuted by the Special Assistant U.S. Attorney hired by the Treasure Valley Partnership and the State of Idaho to address gang crimes. The Treasure Valley Partnership is comprised of a group of elected officials in southeast Idaho dedicated to regional coordination, cooperation, and collaboration on creating coherent regional growth.
