Northside Gang Member Pleads Guilty to Distributing Meth
BOISE – Andres Marcos Trejo, 24, of Nampa, Idaho, pleaded guilty today in United States District Court in Boise to distribution of methamphetamine, U.S. Attorney Wendy J. Olson announced.
According to the plea agreement, on October 7, 2010, Trejo sold methamphetamine to another person at his residence, a farmhouse located between Nampa and Melba, Idaho. Trejo is a documented member of a “Norteno,” or Northside, street gang active in the Treasure Valley. Trejo and ten other gang members and associates were indicted in October and November last year for a number of drug trafficking and firearms offenses.
The charge of distribution of methamphetamine carries a maximum punishment of up to 20 years in prison, a fine up to $1 million, and a minimum three years supervised release.
Sentencing is set for April 17, 2012, before U.S. District Judge Edward J. Lodge at the federal courthouse in Boise.
“Methamphetamine is a dangerous and addictive drug that affects all Idaho communities,” said Olson. “Federal, state and local law enforcement are committed to aggressively investigating and prosecuting methamphetamine trafficking wherever it occurs.”
The case was investigated by the Treasure Valley Metro Violent Crimes Task Force and is being prosecuted by the Special Assistant U.S. Attorney hired by the Treasure Valley Partnership and the State of Idaho to address gang crimes. The Treasure Valley Partnership is comprised of a group of elected officials in southeast Idaho dedicated to regional coordination, cooperation, and collaboration on creating coherent regional growth.
