From the first launch in 2003, CubeSats (small satellites weighting just a few kilograms) have caught interest from many universities and institutions around the globe. More than 100 CubeSat projects are ongoing worldwide.
KOUNOTORI3 (HTV3) reentered Earth’s atmosphere at 2:27 p.m. on September 14, over the east coast of New Zealand. KOUNOTORI3 successfully completed its cargo supply mission to the ISS.

At 1:20 a.m. on August 17, 2012, the Inflatable Extension Mast (IEM), one of the series of the Space Inflatable Membranes Pioneering Long-term Experiments (SIMPLE) which realizes the highly-rigid linear shape for the first time in the world has successfully extended.
"In-situ observation of growth mechanisms of protein crystals and their perfection under microgravity" has started using the Solution Crystallization Observation Facility (SCOF) on board Kibo, the Japanese Experiment Module (JEM). Growth rate of crystals is expected to greatly affect its quality.
Student teams from Malaysia and Thailand put in their final report to the sponsor agency of parabolic flight performed this March.
