Data Source: The Surgical Care Improvement Project
This measure reflects the percentage of patients who receive all of the appropriate care for which they are eligible. Data were collected by the hospitals according to data collection tools developed by the Medicare Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) Program or related organizations. Quality performance information collected from the more than 4,000 participating hospitals is reported on Hospital Compare, a website tool developed by CMS.
Numerator: All surgical patients that have received recommended care as appropriate for the individual.
Denominator: All surgical patients from hospitals participating in the Surgical Care Improvement Project (SCIP) who are eligible for at least one of the SCIP measures.
