NCPTT 2010 grant recipient, The Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR), will present A New View of Cultural Landscapes – The Massachusetts Heritage Landscape Atlas as part of the technology showcase at the 2011 American Planning Association conference in Boston, April 9-12, 2011. Wendy Pearl, DCR Historic Landscape Preservation Initiative Director, Jessica Rowcroft, DCR Planner, Nathanael Lloyd, DCR GIS Program Director, and David Kimball, DCR GIS Analyst will co-present the easy to use Atlas, which helps planners consider landscape preservation on par with open space and habitat conservation. The open source program is web-based and GIS built, using the OpenLayers JavaScript library with a Geoserver engine that serves the maps and data.
