Threatened Elkhorn and Staghorn Corals (Acropora sp.)

NOAA Proposes to Reclassify Elkhorn and Staghorn Corals as Endangered

RULES

Elkhorn and staghorn corals were listed as threatened
under the ESA on May 9, 2006. NOAA Fisheries has issued
three rules pertaining to this listing.

90-day Finding on Petition to Revise Critical Habitat

RECOVERY

NOAA Fisheries is charged with developing a recovery plan
to identify all actions necessary to delist elkhorn and staghorn
corals. A recovery team is working on a draft plan, which will
be released for public comment prior to finalization.
