U.S.-Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI) alumni from nine Middle Eastern and North African countries and territories have designed activities to mark the International Day of Rural Women on October 15. Alumni are coordinating 17 events from October 12 to October 21 to support women, particularly those from rural areas, with a focus on entrepreneurship. Over 500 MEPI and other State Department alumni, as well as local community activists, plan to volunteer to support thousands of women seeking economic empowerment and additional income for their families.

These activities mark the first annual region-wide Alumni Day of Service for MEPI’s Alumni Network. MEPI alumni from Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Morocco, Oman, the Palestinian Territories, and Yemen will participate in the Day of Service events.

The MEPI Alumni Network supports civil society activists and reformers, empowering women and youth and fostering economic opportunity through trainings, networking events, skill-building activities, and volunteerism. MEPI recently expanded its Alumni Network and will soon have active local chapters in 14 countries and territories.
