Yesterday, Senior Advisor to the Chairman on Broadband Phoebe Yang and members of the FCC’s Omnibus Broadband Initiative presented to the Federal Communications Bar Association on recent progress on some of the “national purposes” recommendations in the Plan. These “national purposes” include issues like health, education and energy.

Capture The Phone Numbers Using Your Camera Phone
If you have a camera and a 2D matrix code reader on your mobile phone, you can capture the FCC Phone numbers right to your phone by following these three easy steps:
Step 1: Take a photograph of one of the codes below using the camera on your mobile phone.
Step 2: Use your phone's Datamatrix or QR Code reader to decode the information on the photograph. Please note, these code readers are device specific and are available to download on the internet.
Step 3: Store the decoded address information to your phone's address book and use it with your Maps or GPS application.
Widespread broadband is going to prove to be one of the most useful tool in creating an ethos where American's can compete with other developed countries like Asia. Considering the transition to National Health Care we will need a repository of medical information that can be utilized nationwide and we need broadband everywhere to achieve this. The use of "smart grid" technology needs to be implemented, it will save consumers money on energy cost and also help our environment, and prevent a potential energy crisis, or power grid failures. It would be great if we could see some of these projects on the website and if more collaboration could be fostered between similar projects.
I hope it does not take TOO long to get broadband everywhere..
I was hoping 4G might be the answer.... but then i read that it's not unlimited...or won't be truely unlimited... ever.. so.. it's gonna be another BS service like 3G......great at first... then everyone and their grandmother gets on it.. and they decided that it's too much strain, and they put caps on it...
SO the only real hope is that some how.. wired broadband gets to where i live........ but it is taking WAY too long...
Very cool. I cannot wait until broadband is as common as telephone poles. We are so behind the rest of the world when it comes to this.
