Description:Beamline 10 of the Synchrotron Ultraviolet Radiation Facility is a diagnostics end-station used to determine the transverse size of the stored electron beam. In its unperturbed state, the vertical electron beam size is quite small, in the order of a few 10 µm. Because the lifetime of the electron beam is short, in the order of minutes, in this natural state, the vertical betatron oscillation is excited to increase the vertical size and the life time of the electron beam. The result from the beam imaging system on beamline 10 is used by the SURF control system to keep the electron beam size constant over time. |
