Demonstration at IPTW
The 13th annual International Preservation Trades Workshop will be held by the Preservation Trades Network in partnership with the Colorado Mountain College Historic Preservation program. The 3rd International Trades Education Symposium will be held in conjunction with IPTW 2009. These combined events will take place in the spectacular natural setting of the Rocky Mountains. They will provide unique opportunities for tradespeople, educators, architects, preservationists, students and others from the US and abroad to network while sharing experiences, learning new skills and finding common ground in their experiences relating to trades education and “hands on” conservation of the built environment.
Workshops, “hands on” demonstrations of preservation techniques and symposium sessions will take place in historic Leadville, Colorado and at the Hayden Ranch National Register Historic site, an intact example of a high country ranch and agricultural operations c.1872-1947. Colorado Mountain College purchased the ranch for use as a learning laboratory, interpretive site, and classroom space for students in the preservation trades program, and it promises to be a remarkable venue for IPTW-ITES events. Plan now to join us next August in historic Leadville!

The International Preservation Trades Workshop is the annual gathering of the PTN community. Since 1997, masons, timber framers, carpenters, painters, roofers, plasterers, metal workers and practitioners of other traditional trades from more than a dozen countries have come together with tools in hand to share their knowledge and demonstrate their skills. Every IPTW draws a
diverse audience of tradespeople, architects, preservationists, students and home owners.
From New Orleans, LA to Tällberg, Sweden, every IPTW offers unique learning opportunities for people of all ages, skill levels and interests.

Who We Are
The Preservation Trades Network (PTN) is a 501(c)3 non-profit membership organization founded to provide education, networking and outreach for the traditional building trades. PTN was established on the principle that conservation of the built environment is fundamentally dependent on the work of skilled people in all of the traditional building trades who preserve, maintain and restore historic buildings, and build architectural heritage for the future. PTN is a registered provider of Continuing Education Credits under the American Institute of Architects Continuing Education System (AIA/CES).

What We Do
PTN works with North American and international partners to provide educational resources, events and workshops that build opportunities for collaboration, and exchange of skills and knowledge. We support existing trades education programs, and provide a network for people in the traditional trades. PTN is committed to recognizing the masters of the trades, and creating opportunities for the next generation of tradespeople. The Askins Achievement Award recognizes outstanding contributions and accomplishments in the promotion, education and application of traditional trade skills, and is presented annually at the IPTW.

While many members are full-time, practicing tradespeople, PTN includes architects, educators, conservators, engineers, preservationists, home owners, students and interested members of the general public.
