WASHINGTON, D.C.–Nancy J. Gargula has been reappointed by the Attorney General as United States Trustee for Indiana and central and southern Illinois, the Director of the Executive Office for United States Trustees announced today.

“Ms. Gargula has served with distinction for the past five years, and is well respected as an effective bankruptcy lawyer and policy advocate,” Director Cliff White stated. “She has also made significant contributions to the Program outside of her region. Prior to the passage of the Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005, Ms. Gargula served on a number of working groups and played a pivotal role in the development of the Program’s enforcement and implementation strategies, policies, and practices.”

Before her appointment as U.S. Trustee for Region 10, Ms. Gargula’s professional experience included the private practice of law in Indianapolis and serving as in-house counsel for a bank. She received her law degree from the University of Notre Dame Law School in Notre Dame, Ind., and her undergraduate degree summa cum laude from Ball State University in Muncie, Ind.

The U.S. Trustee Program is the component of the Justice Department that protects the integrity of the bankruptcy system by overseeing case administration and litigating to enforce the bankruptcy laws.
