SUBJECT:  OPTIONAL USE OF PRIVATE COURIER SERVICES FOR
          REMITTANCE OF MORTGAGE INSURANCE PREMIUMS (MIP)
 
     Previously, HUD's Atlanta lockbox depository could not accept
overnight private courier deliveries since these services cannot make
delivery to a Post Office Box.  The MIP remittance procedure has been
amended to provide for private courier deliveries to the lockbox
depository.  Private courier services may now be used at the
remitting mortgagee's option.
 
     If you are remitting single family monthly MIP or Multifamily
MIP, the mailing addresses for U.S. Mail and for private courier
service deliveries are below.
