April 28, 2011 — ICE arrests airline employees for involvement in international drug smuggling

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents arrested 12 individuals today for their role in two drug smuggling operations out of U.S. airports. All of the individuals have been charged with drug trafficking and related charges to include conspiracy, possession with intent to distribute and illegal importation of narcotics. Full Story


April 27, 2011 — ICE deports Colombian national linked with terrorist organization

ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) officers deported Carmen Ponton Caro, a Colombian national, to Bogota after she served 70 months in prison in Connecticut. She provided support to a terrorist organization known as the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC). Full Story


April 27, 2011 — ICE and CBP officials return pre-Columbian artifacts to Panama

ICE Director John Morton and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Assistant Commissioner Thomas S. Winkowski repatriated 99 pre-Columbian artifacts to Panamanian President Ricardo Martinelli on Thursday. ICE HSI agents and CBP officers seized the objects during in an investigation in Los Angeles and Portland, Ore. Full Story

ICE victim assistance coordinators assist victims encountered in any ICE investigation, from human trafficking and child exploitation to human rights abuse and white collar crime. The program's 18 victim assistance specialists are on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Full Story


April 25, 2011 — 5 members of multi-million dollar drug and money smuggling cell plead guilty

Five members and principal leaders of an illegal drug and money transportation cell based in Brownsville, Texas, pleaded guilty on Monday to smuggling and transporting hundreds of kilograms of cocaine, along with millions of dollars in drug proceeds, into the United States. Full Story
