Sustainability

Embracing the Green Economy

SustainabilitySustainability has become a key driver of economic growth as global demands for diminishing resources increase, renewable and alternative energy technology needs expand, and environmental concerns heighten. Whether it is simply a response to rising energy and resource costs or as a corporate growth strategy, sustainability seeks to balance economic, environmental, and societal challenges and opportunities.

MEP will help companies gain a competitive edge by reducing environmental costs and impact by developing new environmentally-focused materials, products and processes to gain entry into new markets. Sustainable practices also increase manufacturing's contribution to the economy by helping companies embrace environmental goals profitably. MEP will develop and expand strong and effective partnerships with government and industry to ensure sustainability is embraced at all levels of the economy – from the largest employers to the smallest suppliers to the workforce itself.

A Strategy for Growth

Under the sustainability umbrella, the MEPs are uniquely positioned and extremely qualified to bring a positive impact to business as they strive to embrace the environmental side of sustainability.

MEPs have an exceptional reputation of working with small business and manufacturers to optimize business operations through the application of a suite of tools and services. This suite of tools and services are highlighted with our productivity “lean manufacturing” analysis tools and recommendations for production optimization and waste minimization.

MEPs are associated with EPAs green Supplier Network and can coordinate a detailed waste review that can have a tremendous positive impact of the further production optimization and greatly minimize not only risks to the producer but substantially improve what otherwise may have been negative environmental impacts .

MEPs are also associated with DOE’s Industrial Technology Program, and through this collaboration can facilitate not only the transfer of a wealth of practical and technical energy information but also for qualifying facilities, organize a Energy Assessment through the Industrial Assessment Centers (IAC) or a comprehensive in-depth energy system analyses through an Energy Saving Assessment (ESA). Improving energy efficiency is the quickest, cleanest and most profitable business opportunity.

The combined application of such “best practices” in lean manufacturing, waste minimization and energy use has a substantial positive impact to the financial bottom line while going a long ways towards positioning the client on a path of sustainability.

Implementing a business growth strategy, MEP will focus on two key areas: technology acceleration and sustainability and improve our market penetration and impact through an aggressive “supply chain” referral process integrated into all our tools and services.

Sustainability Growth Strategy

Sustainability has become a key driver of economic growth as global demands for diminishing resources increase, renewable and alternative energy technology needs expand and environmental concerns continue to evolve. Whether it is simply a response to rising energy and resource costs or as a corporate growth strategy; sustainability is a struggle to balance economic, environmental, and societal challenges and opportunities. Key to the strategy is the development and expansion of strong and effective partnerships with government and industry to ensure sustainability is embraced at all levels of the economy – from the largest employers to the smallest suppliers to the workforce itself.

MEP’s Sustainability Growth Strategy helps companies gain a competitive edge by reducing environmental costs and impact and by developing new environmentally-focused materials, products and processes to grow new markets. The program also increases manufacturing’s contribution to the economy by helping companies embrace environmental goals and make a profit.

Cross-referrals between the incubator network serving clean energy tech companies, CEA and MEP will enable growth in early stage companies.  Under the CEA collaboration with MEP, it is anticipated that as either organization encounters a company that could benefit from the services of the other, appropriate referrals will be made.  In this way, existing national resources will be coordinated to improve the overall competitiveness of American manufacturing while advancing the development of clean energy capabilities and energy self-reliance.
