Telephone Assistance (TAP)

Telephone Assistance Program (TAP)

TAP is a service provided by telephone companies to help people and families maintain a phone, landline, cable or cell phone. The program is open to anyone enrolled in SNAP, LIEAP, Medicaid or other social service programs. Your telephone company can tell you specifically how you can benefit.

To qualify, a person or family needs proof they are participating in a social service program such as SNAP, LIEAP or Medicaid. A copy of your award letter or benefits card and the application (see the PDFs below) should be mailed or faxed to your telephone company if you'd like to participate in TAP.

You can print an application here. (The application also includes phone company contact information, and all questions about the program should be directed to your telephone company.)
