Declassification at the Presidential Libraries
Presidential Libraries hold more than 30 million pages of textual classified materials and more than 1,000 rolls of classified microfilm from the Franklin D. Roosevelt through George W. Bush Presidential administrations. In addition, the Libraries hold more than three terabytes of classified electronic records.
The declassification of Presidential papers and records presents some unique issues and concerns.

Presidential Libraries and the Presidential Materials Division work with partners and with the National Declassification Center to declassify these materials by:
- Partnering with the CIA on the Remote Archives Capture Program (RAC)
- Collaborating with the National Declassification Center to prioritize Presidential papers and records for declassification.
After declassification review, the Presidential Libraries and the Presidential Materials Division make the papers and records available in the research rooms.
