Established in 1984, the Committee on Earth Observation Satellites (CEOS) coordinates civil space-borne observations of the Earth. Participating agencies strive to enhance international coordination and data exchange and to optimize societal benefit. Currently, 52 members and associate members made up of space agencies, national, and international organizations participate in CEOS planning and activities. The CEOS Response to the GCOS IP-10In August 2010, the Global Climate Observing System (GCOS) released the updated Implementation Plan for the Global Observing System for Climate in Support of the UNFCCC (GCOS IP-10), providing an updated set of Actions required to implement and maintain a comprehensive global observing system for climate. This report represents the CEOS response to the space-based observation requirements in GCOS IP-10 and its 2011 Systematic Observation Requirements for Satellite-based Data Products for Climate (the “satellite supplement”).
