LTC Peter Dargle, a native of Cazenovia, New York, graduated from Cazenovia High School in 1988.  He attended the United States Military Academy Prep School and United States Military Academy where he received his Bachelor of Science majoring in Military History.

Commissioned in May 1993, LTC Dargle has served in various command and staff billets, to include Armor Platoon Leader, Company Executive Officer, and Battalion Maintenance Officer in 1st Battalion, 67th Armor Regiment; Deputy Brigade Operations Officer in 3rd Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division; Armor Company Commander, and Headquarters Company Commander in 2nd Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment; Observer/Controller at the National Training Center; Brigade Plans Officer in 1st Brigade, 4th Infantry Division; Combined Arms Battalion Operations Officer, and Combined Arms Battalion Executive Officer in 1st Battalion, 66th Armor Regiment, and Division Operations Officer in 4th Infantry Division.  Most recently, LTC Dargle served as Joint Staff Lead Exercise Planner supporting United States Central Command (USCENTCOM). 

Operational deployments include two operational deployments to Kuwait (1998 and 2000) as part of Operation Intrinsic Action and three combat tours in Iraq including Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) I as part of the USCENTCOM Coalition Coordination Center, OIF Rotation 05-07 as a Battalion Operations Officer, and OIF Rotation 07-09 as a Battalion Executive Officer, and subsequently as the 4th Infantry Division’s Iraqi Security Force Cell lead. 

During his tenure on Joint Staff, LTC Dargle completed three operational mission deployments to Afghanistan to support development and execution of realistic and challenging Mission Rehearsal Exercises for deploying Corps, MEF, and Division level staffs.  Additionally, LTC Dargle served as the lead planner for USCENTCOM’s primary battle staff training exercise to prepare the USCENTCOM staff for rapid transition from steady-state operations to crisis operations.  Selected for Garrison Command, LTC Dargle assumes command at Fort AP Hill, Virginia on 18 June 2012.

LTC Dargle is a graduate of the Armor Officer Basic and Advance Courses, Combined Arms and Service Staff School, and Command and General Staff Course at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.  He also holds a Master’s Degree from Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas.

His personal awards include the Bronze Star Medal with Oak Leaf, Meritorious Service Medal with two Oak Leafs, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Combat Action Badge, Parachute Badge and various other personal and unit awards.  LTC Dargle has also been awarded both the Order of Saint George and Order of Saint Maurice for his demonstrated leadership and support to the Armor and Infantry Branches respectively.

LTC Dargle is married to the former Ms. Jean Martin from Louisville, Kentucky and has four children, Morgan, Bryce, Heidi, and Peyton.
