Mission of AC/135 is to provide participant Nations with a uniform NATO Codification System as the global reference standard for materiel identification, and as a key enabler to support NATO and multinational interoperability, and harmonised logistic systems.

CORE OBJECTIVES :

1. IMPROVE CODIFICATION PROCESSES & PROCEDURES

• Enhance interoperability for war-fighters
• Meet national and international aims / objectives
• Automate NCS processes to greatest extent possible
• Simplify NCS Processes
• Reduce time and costs

2. ENHANCE DATA QUALITY & AVAILABILITY

• Promote Master Data concept and common understanding
• Create metrics/measurements for continuous improvement
• Improve international electronic data exchange capabilities

3. ENGAGE WITH INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS

• Promote NCS methodology within ISO community
• Influence development of new ISO Standards
• Create/support interoperability between different terminology systems / standards bodies

4. ENGAGE WITH INDUSTRY

• Harness new technologies for data exchange or sharing
• Enhance mutual understanding of NCS and other cataloguing systems
• Improve and create interoperability between NATO & commercial cataloguing systems
