American Indian/Alaska Native Health

Grants

HRSA administers more than 80 grant programs that support health care service delivery, including care for people with HIV/AIDS, black lung, radiation exposure-related conditions and Hansen's disease; health care infrastructure building, including maternal and child health, rural health, organ and blood cell donation and transplantation; health professions training and development; and research.

Competitive Grant Cycles

To identify and fund projects with the greatest potential to achieve grant program objectives, most HRSA grants are awarded competitively (some mandatory programs are awarded by formula to entities specified in their authorizing legislation). Some competitive grant programs have statutory set asides, preferences and/or funding priorities.
