 Maj Gen O.G. Mannon is Chief of Staff, Headquarters United States Africa Command. He is responsible for synchronizing the activities of and ensuring the proper functioning of the command's joint and interagency staff. He is also responsible for the integration and cross-directorate communication necessary to ensure the U.S. Africa Command staff executes and fulfills the commander's intent for all Department of Defense activities in the U.S. Africa Command area of responsibility.

General Mannon entered the Air Force in 1980 as a distinguished graduate of the Officer Training School. He has held a number of flying and staff positions to include instructor pilot and numbered Air Force headquarters airlift execution officer. He has served as Deputy Commanding Officer and Chief of Staff to Special Operations Command South, Deputy Director for Special Operations on the Joint Staff and Vice Commander of Air Force Special Operations Command. He has commanded at the squadron, group and wing levels.

The general has also commanded a joint special operations air component, and was Joint Special Operations Task Force Deputy Commander in Northern Iraq during the opening days and weeks of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He also commanded an Afghanistan-based joint task force supporting Operation Enduring Freedom, as well as an expeditionary special operations wing controlling special operations aviation assets from three services supporting operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. He is a command pilot with more than 4,400 flying hours.
