Brig. Gen. Randy A. Kee is the Deputy Director for Politico-Military Affairs (Western Hemisphere), Strategic Plans and Policy Directorate, Joint Staff, the Pentagon, Washington, D.C. He is responsible to the Director for Politico-Military Affairs for all issues associated within Central America, South America, Mexico, and Canada. Additionally, his portfolio includes issues associated with Homeland Defense and Homeland Security. In his role, he works closely with National Security Council, Department of State, Department of Defense, U.S. Southern Command and U.S. Northern Command to provide coordinated politico-military policy recommendations to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
General Kee was commissioned in 1985 through the ROTC program at Oregon State University. Following graduation, he served in a variety of operational assignments initially as a B-52 navigator and subsequently as a C-130 pilot. The general has commanded at the squadron, group and wing levels, and has been engaged in multiple combat operations in Southwest Asia, the Balkans and Afghanistan. He has also commanded two Air Expeditionary Wings during two years of deployed service.
The general has held a variety of staff assignments to include U.S. Transportation Command, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, and the Joint Staff in both Operations and Strategic Plans and Policy Directorates. He has also served as Vice Commander of Air Mobility Command's Global Air Operations Center. Prior to assuming his current assignment, he was the Commander, 379th Air Expeditionary Wing, Southwest Asia. General Kee is a command pilot and previously qualified navigator who has flown a variety of aircraft, with approximately 4,700 flight hours, including 700 in combat.
