Brig. Gen. John P. Horner is the Commander, Air Force Recruiting Service, Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph, Texas. The Air Force Recruiting Service comprises more than 2,600 Airmen and civilians in more than 1,200 recruiting offices across the United States and abroad. He is responsible for all enlisted accessions and a variety of officer accession programs. AFRS also manages all strategic marketing for the U.S. Air Force.

Brig. Gen. Horner entered service in 1986 as a graduate of the Air Force Academy. With a diverse background in operations, plans, intelligence, and command and control, he has also previously served as Deputy Foreign Policy Advisor at U.S. European Command. He has commanded at the squadron, group, and wing level. With over 4,000 flight hours, predominantly in the A-10 Thunderbolt II, he has flown combat missions over Iraq, the Balkans, and Afghanistan.
