IMAs are assigned to and support more than 40 major commands, combatant commands and defense agencies. In addition to the war effort, the peacetime mission of the IMAs and PIRR is to provide backfill for active component bases. Members also provide support for relief efforts worldwide in the aftermath of disasters such as hurricanes, floods and earthquakes.
