Verification
The NWS Taunton Office forecast area verification page has been and will continue to be....expanded and updated.
It now includes a marine section showing office verification of its gale and storm warnings from 2000 through this summer 2002, including lead times. This section also includes specific data segmented into forecast areas such as Boston Harbor, Narragansett Bay etc.
Additionally, there is a section on special marine warning verification for the year 2002.
The winter storm and summer severe thunderstorm sections have their event data base expanded back to 1997.
The Public products day-day temperature portion has a section for 2002-2003 temperature forecast performance from day 1 through day 7 (168 hours), including detail for 6 representative geographic verification points. Late this year, this section of verification will probably be expanded to include gridded verification over the entire forecast area and possibly add more elements and time intervals.
In addition, we're adding a section on "Important Southern New England Storms". These are detailed discussions of analysis and/or model performance as composed-assessed within our office or nearby NWS Eastern Regional Headquarters.
