Added a lesson plan to learn about the water cycle using a using 3-D paper craft activity.

A randomly generated certificate number has been added to the certificate one can obtain by earning a passing score via the online quizzes. The quizzes are designed for personal enjoyment and edification however some educators use them as a metric to measure a student's understanding.

For those instances, we have added a certificate number and a date/time group to indicated when the certificate was created. This allows educators to cross check their student's work to help ensure each has completed his/her own quiz. The certificate numbers are random, not sequential.

Added three sections to the Global Weather module. These sections are mainly images of the different types of weather experienced around the world: precipitation, obscurations, and other types.

Added two new modules; Derechos and Tsunamis. Also, several corrections and minor tweaks have be ongoing since the last "official" update.

Tweaked the Hydrologic Cycle section. The main JetStream page continues about the five basic components of the cycle but a JetStream Max section was added to go into further detail. The downloadable Water Cycle Chart was also tweaked. A Water Cycle wheel was added. Finally, a new learning lesson was added help in the understanding the water cycle.

Added a page with links to all JetStream's CoolStuff activities. There are five basic online activities. The sliding puzzle and online coloring activity lists are twice as long as the other three lists as they are repeated on the weekends.

Some minor updates: hail size criteria for a severe thunderstorm has been changed from ¾" to 1" and the National Hurricane Center has revised the Saffir-Simpson scale for rating hurricanes. Added a lesson plan for plotting the extent of the wind filed around a hurricane based upon the National Hurricane Centers forecast/advisory. That lesson plan is found in a new Take it to the MAX! section describing a hurricane's damage potential. There is also a new wheel to help show how the hurricane damage potential increase with increases in wind speed.

Added a top to the beginning of the Synoptic Meteorology section on how to read the time in National Weather Service images. It includes an interactive map of the 24 times zones around the world. The interactive map also displays the current time around the world in each zone provided the clock on the your local computer is correct.

Updated some graphics in the Thunderstorm section as well as rewrote the Thunderstorm type section. Another slow process underway is providing JetStream en Español. The beginning of this effort can be seen in the section about the National Weather Service. Look for the link to the Spanish version in the upper right, below the NWS emblem.

Added a Take it to the MAX! webpage describing CoCoRaHS which offers a unique way you can help fill gaps in the rainfall data by becoming a volunteer and taking measurements of precipitation from your location.

Added a link to the front page of JetStream called "Today's Weather Activity". These activities are Java-based and change each day.
  • Monday is Sliding Puzzle day.
  • Tuesday is Word Search day.
  • Wednesday is Concentration day (Similar to the classic TV show where you must solve the rebus).
  • Thursday is "Coloring Your World" day.
  • Friday is Jigsaw Puzzle day.
  • The sliding puzzle and coloring activities repeat each weekend, usually with different graphics.
