House and Garden Tours - 2009

 

A guided tour of the mansion and grounds is an interesting and unique way to learn about how one family shaped and influenced our conservation ideals and values, while experiencing what life might have been like at Grey Towers in the early 20th century.

Pre-season Mansion Tours (Weekends only).

May 16th and 17th

Tours are at 1:00pm and 3:00pm ONLY.

See all three floors of the mansion.

Regular tour fees apply.

Living History Program and Milford Walking Tour

May 16th - Saturday 11:00am

"James and Mary Pinchot" present "Welcome to Our Home" a living history program.

A lead walking tour of the town of Milford will follow.

Regular Mansion Tour Season Resumes

Everyday, 11:00am - 4:00pm, on the hour.

Guided tours of the mansion and grounds share the story of conservation in America and the role Grey Towers played.

Come Paint With Me

June 4th - Thursday 10:00am - 3:00pm

Landscape painting program. You can either join the artists or observe them at work in the fields and forests of Grey Towers. Bring your own materials and picnic lunch if you wish to take part in these outdoor painting and sketching sessions.

Free Outdoor Concert

June 6th - Saturday 5:30pm

Connect with nature through music at this free performance, as part of the Milford Music Festival. (sponsored by the Grey Towers Heritage Association and the US Forest Service at Grey Towers).

The Art of Lacemaking

June 13th - Saturday

Watch as the Lost Art Lacers of North New Jersey practice the art of lace-making. The Pinchot lace collection will also be on display.

Hike the Pinchot Timeline Trail

June 13th - Saturday 1:30pm

Take an easy walk through time on this gently sloping trail. The guided hike will focus on the history of the Pinchot family from when they arrived in Milford in the 1800's to 1963 when Grey Towers was donated to the American people by Dr. Gifford Pinchot.

Lecture: The Journals of Lewis and Clark

June 20th - Saturday 7:00pm

Experience what Lewis and Clark experienced when crossing America's most famous trail. Historian Peter Osborne retraced the steps of these famous explorers through many of the National Forests that Gifford Pinchot helped form.
