US Labor Department announces competition for $750,000 in cooperative agreements to assist in maintaining and improving homeless veterans program grants

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Department of Labor's Veterans' Employment and Training Service today announced a $750,000 grant competition aimed at supporting Department of Labor grantees that provide employment services to homeless veterans and veterans at risk of becoming homeless.

National Technical Assistance Center Cooperative Agreements grants will establish partnerships that will, in turn, continue and improve training, technical assistance, research and other support services offered by more than 150 existing grantees such as service organizations, state and local workforce investment boards and faith-based organizations that work with homeless and at risk veterans.

"Reintegrating homeless veterans into meaningful employment is a vital and pressing part of ending homelessness among the men and women who have worn our nation's uniform," said VETS Assistant Secretary Raymond Jefferson. "The NTACCA provide needed support and resources to our grantees so they can better focus on serving veterans who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless."

The competition is expected to stimulate and improve the delivery system of services provided under existing Homeless Veteran Reintegration Program grants, including grants to serve women veterans, veterans with families and incarcerated veterans.

Under this solicitation, depending on the quality and content of the applications received, VETS anticipates awarding two cooperative agreements with a $500,000 maximum for any one award.
