ERIC does not require an exclusive agreement. Working with multiple database vendors and third-party sources enables publishers to achieve maximum exposure. There are no fees associated with participating in ERIC. ERIC User AccessERIC is used by researchers, teachers, teacher educators, administrators, librarians, education students, and the general public throughout the United States and around the world. ERIC users conduct more than 13 million searches each month through the ERIC website and other participating sites and services. Types of Materials Indexed in ERICERIC is currently indexing journals, books, and grey literature directly related to the field of education and published or prepared between 2004 and the present. The ERIC Selection Policy guides the selection of materials. Following a successful review of your organization and the types of materials you provide (see Review Process), ERIC will contact the publisher or organization to seek permission to index the materials in ERIC. Details are spelled out in an agreement signed by both parties. Contents of an ERIC RecordERIC Records contain bibliographic information and an abstract. For publications from 2004 forward, ERIC also includes a link to the publisher’s website. This feature helps the user obtain access to the full text when full text is not available in ERIC by directing users to publisher-provided information about subscription, membership, or document delivery; pay-per-view access; or free full-text access. Bibliographic records for journals and documents are similar; differences occur in the peer-reviewed and record type fields, and the use of either the ISBN or ISSN field: Publishers have the option to display full text within ERIC, either when an item is published or after a publisher-specified embargo period.
