All-Marine Warrior Games Track and Field Team

The track is where the dedication meets the pavement for the wounded Marines competing in the 2012 Warrior Games. Whether sprinting around the track, racing wheelchairs, or throwing shot put and discus, these Marines give their all to defeat wounded warriors from the other services. The track portion consists of the 100-meter, 200-meter and 1500-meter outdoor and the 60-meter, 200-meter and 1500-meter indoor for both runners and wheelchair racers. The outdoor runners will have a 4x 100-meter relay and the indoor a 4x 134-meter relay. The field competition will be made up of the shot put and discus from both standing and sitting.

The competitors are divided into categories based upon injury. The categories are: open, meaning no permanent physical disabilities such as post-traumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injury or orthopedic injuries; VI, for those with visual acuity of 20/200 or greater and/0r a visual field of less than 20 degrees in both eyes; and other, which includes leg amputations, arm amputations and leg or arm injuries.
