The New Markets Venture Capital ("NMVC") Program is a developmental venture capital program created in 2001. The pilot program was designed to promote economic development and the creation of wealth and job opportunities in low-income geographic areas and among individuals living in such areas. Funds that were approved as New Markets Venture Capital Companies ("NMVCCs”) continue to operate, though they are no longer actively seeking to make new investments in small businesses.
