Briefly:
John Horowitz is an economist with the Resource and Rural Economics Division. His research focuses on the economics of climate change, with special emphasis on the costs of agricultural greenhouse gas reduction. He was Vice President of the Association of Environmental and Resource Economists from 2004 to 2006 and is currently an Associate Editor of the journal Environmental and Resource Economics.

Background:
John Horowitz has served as an economist with ERS since January 2009. He was on the faculty at the University of Maryland from 1988-2010. He has also been a visiting professor at the Nicholas School of the Environment, Duke University, in 1997, an economist with Office of Microeconomic Policy, U.S. Department of the Treasury 2001-2002, and an adjunct professor of public policy at Georgetown University, 2009-2010.

Education:
John received a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California, San Diego, in 1988. He received a B.S. in Forestry from Washington State University in 1982 and an M.A. in Agricultural Economics, also from Washington State University, in 1983.
