The Little Rock VA Regional Office offers services to veterans in the State of Arkansas and the city of Texarkana in Bowie County, Texas. Based on 2004 information provided by the Office of Policy, Planning, and Preparedness, the veteran population of Arkansas is 268,000 and the city of Texarkana, Texas, has a veteran population of 3,545. With a staff of approximately 124 employees, the Regional Office determines entitlement to disability compensation and pension, survivors' benefits, vocational rehabilitation and counseling, and various ancillary benefits such as clothing allowance, automobile grants, and specially adapted housing. The compensation and pension payments authorized by the Regional Office total $45,119,976 each month.

Entitlement to home loan guaranty and approval of home loan applications for residents of Arkansas are currently determined by the Regional Loan Center, Houston, Texas. Requests for Certificates of Eligibility are worked out of the Los Angeles Eligibility Center.

The Veterans Service Center processes approximately 5,550 original claims and 23,000 supplemental claims, as well as approximately 9,680 ancillary issues, during a year. This division's workload represents approximately 1.5 percent of the national workload. This station, however, processes approximately 2.9 percent of the nation's appeal issues. The Veterans Service Center also completes approximately 127,000 telephone interviews and 12,000 personal interviews each year.
