Representatives from the U.S. Agency for International Development participated in a ceremony to officially open Havaskor-1 Water User Association in the Qubodiyon district of Tajikistan.

The U.S. Agency for International Development signed a Memorandum of Understanding today with Ethiopia and DuPont to boost maize harvests through increased use of hybrid maize seed, improved seed distribution, and post-harvest storage.

To further this goal, USAID helps Tajik farmers to improve irrigation water management practices, which is critical to increasing and improving agricultural production.

As part of President Obama’s Feed the Future Initiative in Ethiopia, the U.S. Agency for International Development launched a new five-year project called “Livestock Market Development” in support of the Government of Ethiopia’s Agricultural Growth Plan.

In the Cul de Sac corridor, the Feed the Future West project is helping to rehabilitate key agricultural infrastructure, including plugging breaches along Riviere Blanche. The project will also rehabilitate the Riviere Blanche irrigation system, clean the Riviere Grise system, improve at least three critical rural roads damaged by the storm, and provide support to affected agriculture stores.

According to monitoring data, MCC was very successful in meeting or exceeded its output and outcome targets for the evaluated activities.
