ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA — January 30, 2006 — The Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) is pleased to announce the selection of Karen L. Grosso as General Counsel. Ms. Grosso has been acting DoDEA General Counsel since July of 2005 and Deputy General Counsel since September of 2003.
Ms. Grosso brings over eighteen years of experience as an attorney in various positions within the Department of Defense.
Prior to joining DoDEA, Ms. Grosso served in the Pentagon as Assistant to the Deputy General Counsel of the Department of the Navy. In that capacity, she provided legal counsel in support of the Navy Secretariat and General Counsel of the Navy, particularly on projects of special interest to the Under Secretary of the Navy. She also previously served as an Associate General Counsel in the Office of the General Counsel of the Department of Defense, where she advised the office of the Undersecretary of Defense on numerous major defense acquisitions programs, and also advised the Office of the Deputy Under Secretary of Defense with respect to DoD’s Strategic Sourcing Program.
Ms. Grosso is the recipient of the Department of the Navy Superior Civilian Service Award, the Department of Defense Meritorious Civilian Service Award, the Department of Defense Exceptional Civilian Service Award, and the Department of the Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Award.
