ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA — December 17, 2004 — The Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) proudly announces Maria Dee-Buchwald as the 2005 DoDEA Middle/High School Assistant Principal of the Year.
Ms. Dee-Buchwald is a seasoned educator with over 21 years of experience in the classroom. Ms. Dee-Buchwald currently holds the position of assistant principal at Heidelberg Middle School, a position that she has proudly held for the last six years. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Illinois State University and a Master of Science degree in Education Administration from Western Illinois University. Her philosophy as an administrator is that "every decision requires that I ask the question how will this benefit students or increase achievement? and those are words that I live by."
The Middle/High School Assistant Principal of the Year recognition program is sponsored by the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP), McDonald's and Virco Corporations. The Assistant Principal of the Year program is designed to recognize outstanding leadership.
Ms. Dee-Buchwald will contend with other state finalists for the title of "The National Middle and High School Assistant Principal of the Year." Additionally, as the DoDEA honoree, Ms. Dee-Buchwald will attend the National Association of Secondary School Principal's convention.
