DoDEA Far East Football Championship Kicks Off Next Week

OKINAWA, JAPAN — November 4, 2009 — The top four large high school football teams from across DoDEA Pacific will compete here next week in a series of games to determine 1st through 4th place in the DoDEA Far East Football Championship.
For the first time, the top team representing their respective DoDDS Korea, Japan, Guam and Okinawa district will compete in the same venue over the course of the same week. Previously, students traveled between separate host sites and countries to play in the semi-final and final matchups.

All four games will be held at Mike Petty Stadium located on Camp Foster. The games are free and anyone with base access may attend.

The schedule includes two semi-final games to determine which teams will play in the consolation and championship games:

  • Game 1 between the Yokota High School Panthers and Kadena High School Panthers, Monday Nov. 9 at 5:30 p.m.
  • Game 2 between the Seoul American High School Falcons and the Guam High School Panthers, Tuesday Nov. 10 at 5:30 p.m.
  • Game 3 (consolation) to determine 3rd and 4th place will take place Saturday, Nov. 14 at 1:00 p.m.
  • Game 4 (championship) between the winners of Game 1 and 2, will kickoff Saturday, Nov. 14 at 6:00 p.m.

In addition to the large high school football championship, DoDEA Pacific sponsors 21 Far East Activities including sport, scholastic, art, music, club, and JROTC events. The events are coordinated by the Far East Activity Council and complement DoDEA core curriculum by providing students area-wide festivals, symposiums and competitions to showcase their creative, academic and athletic talents.
