PEACHTREE CITY, GA — June 20, 2006 — Dr. Elaine Beraza, Director, Department of Defense (DoD) Domestic Dependent Elementary and Secondary Schools (DDESS) and Department of Defense Dependents Schools, Cuba, (DoDDS-Cuba) announced today that Dr. Floyd Hines has been named principal of Scott Middle School, Fort Knox, Kentucky.

"Dr. Hines comes to us high recommended and with many years of outstanding service to students," said Fort Knox Community Superintendent Todd Curkendall. "We look forward to working with him at Scott Middle School."

Hines brings nearly 30 years of professional experience to his new position. During the past year he served as principal at Mahaffey Middle School at Fort Campbell. Prior to that, for two years he served as assistant principal at DDESS' Guam Andersen Middle School and Guam High School. He served as a school improvement facilitator for DDESS in Puerto Rico and the Kentucky Department of Education (KDOE). His career with KDOE included time spent as a superintendent, district administrator, teacher, and football coach.

He facilitated graduate classes for Troy State University on military bases in Japan, Misawa, Saebo, and Okinawa in 2001 and for teachers seeking administrator certifications at Morehead State University in Kentucky from 2001 to 2002.

Hines and his wife, Nancy, have one son, a daughter-in-law and two grandchildren.
