on January 7, 2013 - 1:15pm

LA GOLF COURSE News:

If you drive by the golf course on a regular basis you may have noticed that a number of the golf course’s greens were covered prior to the first snows of the season.

These turf covers are meant to protect the golf greens from the wrath that winter conditions can sometimes bring. The covers provide protection from both Crown Hydration and Desiccation.

Happy New Year! 2013 will be awesome … because I intend to make it so, for myself; besides, is there any other way?!

A few years ago, I encountered a young and energetic woman in a “Photoshop” workshop who said, “Every year I take on a new hobby or activity.

So this year I decided to learn how to shoot [with camera] and make great pictures.” It resonated with me. It doesn’t have to be a grandiose undertaking, just something that isn’t in one’s usual repertoire.

Through a fabulous new friendship made early last year, I have begun to read a

Jemez Mountains Blue Crayfish

The nice thing about being out-of-doors is that the unexpected can be seen. A group of students were exploring a stream in the Valles Caldera during a Nature Odyssey program for example.

One student spotted a blue colored rock and waded into the stream to pick it up. Surprise! The rock began to move away from the student.

On closer observation, we realized the rock was actually a crayfish. It was able to escape in spite of several students attempting to catch it.

A blue crayfish is an oddity.

Local developer Stan Primak issued a public apology to his wife and to the Los Alamos community regarding a domestic dispute with his wife Friday night that resulted in his arrest and charge of aggravated battery on a household member.

Primak told the Los Alamos Daily Post this afternoon that in looking back at last night and the fight he had with his wife at their home after dinner, "It just all seems so surreal."

"It is so out of character for me ... but then apparently it's not ... I regret it and I am so sorry but it's not enough," Primak said.
