Education Under Secretary to Lead Conversations on College Affordability and Completion

U.S. Under Secretary of Education Martha Kanter will highlight the Administration’s work to make college more affordable and increase college graduation rates during events at De Anza College and Stanford University on Monday, March 26.
Kanter will host a town hall on college affordability, quality and completion at 12:30 p.m. PT and discuss the shared responsibility of students, colleges and universities, states and the federal government in expanding college opportunities. The event will be at the Visual and Performing Arts Center (VPAC) Theater on the De Anza College campus. Prior to her appointment as Under Secretary, Kanter served as chancellor of the Foothill-De Anza Community College District.
Later at 6 p.m., Kanter will address the 2012 Society for College and University Planning Pacific Regional Conference at Li Ka Shing Center on Stanford University’s campus. Her remarks will touch on a number of different topics, including President Obama’s goal for America to lead the world in college completion by 2020 and the important role of civic engagement in higher education. The theme of this year’s SCUP Pacific Regional conference is Leadership for the 21st Century Campus.
