Captain Jonathan L. Haun was born April 27, 1959 in Seoul, Korea.  He was adopted from the Holt Orphanage at the age of 18 months old.  Upon graduation from Medford Senior High School, Oregon in 1977, he enlisted into the United States Marine Corps.  After graduating from Basic Training at MCRD, San Diego, CA. as the Platoon Honorman, he completed a four year active duty enlistment where he achieved the rank of Sergeant and was named NCO of MCB Camp Pendleton.  Upon release from active duty, he served six years in the active Marine Reserve achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant while he attended Portland State University, Oregon where he graduated in 1985 with a BS in Biology.  He attended Oregon Health Sciences University, graduating in 1989 with a DMD Degree.

Captain Haun was commissioned in the U.S. Navy as an Ensign in 1987 and was promoted to Lieutenant upon graduating and served as a Dental Officer at 23rd Dental Company, 1st Dental Battalion, 29 Palms California.  He next served as the Dental Fleet Liaison Officer NDC Northwest, Bremerton Washington from 1991-1993.  Selected for out-service Prosthodontics training, he attended Ohio State university, graduating with a MS and Prosthodontic Certificate.  Lieutenant Commander Haun's next assignment was aboard USS JOHNN C. STENNIS (CVN-74) where he was also the Port Visit Coordinator for the ship's maiden around-the-world cruise.  After sea duty he immediately reported to NDC Europe as the Prosthodontist, Naples, Italy.  There he was promoted to Commander and was selected to attend Marine Corps Command and Staff College, Quantico, Va. in 2001.  After graduating from Command and Staff College, he returned to 1st Dental Batallion as the 13th Dental Company OIC.  During his three year tour, he deployed to OIF-I as the CSSB-18 Dental OIC and later to OIF-II as the MEF(Fwd) Dental Officer.  Serving as the Prosthodontist at Washington Navy Yard he was selected for promotion to Captain.  CAPT Haun served in N931 at the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery/ Pentagon. He was the first Branch Head of N81H, the OPNAV N81 Medical Analysis Branch at the Pentagon.  In 2010, CAPT Haun was assigned to his current position as the Dental Officer of the Marine Corps at Health Services, Headquarters U.S. Marine Corps where he is also the Director of Research and Development.

Captain Haun’s military decorations include the Legion of Merit Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Navy Unit Citation, Meritorious Unit Citation, Battle “E” Ribbon, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, Selected Marine Reserve Medal, Fleet Marine Force Ribbon, National Defense Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War On Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War On Terrorism Service Medal, Navy/MC Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Navy/MC Overseas Service Ribbon, Rifle and Pistol Expert Medals.
