Each week our panel of experts picks a different National Jukebox selection to highlight.

"I’m waiting for you, ’Liza Jane," Performed by Vernon Dalhart, recorded January 3, 1919.
“I’m waiting for you, ‘Liza Jane” was written and composed by Henry Creamer and Turner Layton, the same duo that produced “After You’ve Gone.” While the latter tune was quite modern for its time, “Liza Jane” is rather old-fashioned and unremarkable, though pleasant. The value here is the marvelous rendition by Vernon Dalhart, who shows off his masterful phrasing and diction, prior to his becoming a “country” star..
