The Air University Accreditation and Degree-Granting Authority
AFIT: The Air Force Institute of Technology is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (30 North LaSalle Street, Suite 2400, Chicago, Illinois 60602-2504: Telephone number 800-621-7400) and, in appropriate engineering curricula, by the Engineering Accreditation Commission, Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, Inc.
AU: Air University is accredited by the Commission of Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, Georgia 30033-4097: Telephone number 404-679-4501) to award associate and master's degrees. Air University achieved regional accreditation in June 2004, effective at the beginning of the 2004 calendar year.
Air University is authorized to grant the following degrees:
Master of Strategic Studies – offered by Air War College
Master of Military Operational Art and Science – offered by the Air Command and Staff College (via resident and distance learning programs)
Master of Aerospace Studies – offered by the School of Advanced Airpower Studies
Master of Science in Flight Test Engineering – offered by the U.S. Air Force Test Pilot School
Associate in Applied Science – offered by the Community College of the Air Force with majors in 68 areas
Air University Extension Course Program: Previously known as the Air Force Institute of Advanced Distributed Learning (AFIADL) is under the auspices of the Headquarters Air University Education Logistics and Communications Directorate (HQ AU A4/6).
The Center for Adult Learning and Educational Credentials of the American Council on Education has evaluated several Air University programs and recommends graduate credit as well as undergraduate credit for various programs.
