Responsibilities

Include evaluation of technologies for patentability and commercial potential, and licensing of inventions from Photon Sciences, Collider Accelerator, Educational Programs, Biology, Medical, Physics, Instrumentation, Computational Science, Nuclear Science and Technology, Nonproliferation and National Security and Condensed Matter Physics and Material Science.

Experience

Prior to joining BNL, Poorni directed research focused on investigating the mechanisms involved in the development of polycystic kidney disease and renal fibrosis, most recently as a senior scientist at Long-Island Jewish Medical Center, NY and prior to that as a tenure track assistant professor at Vanderbilt University.  During her tenure as a scientist, she has been the recipient of several competitive NIH grants.  In addition, she has authored a book chapter and articles in significant peer-reviewed journals.  Poorni has also served as a reviewer for National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases.
