Under Secretary of Education Martha Kanter will speak at the Maryland Campus Compact (MDCC) 2010 Presidents Convening in Owing Mills, Md., on Tuesday, Nov. 30, at 12:40 p.m. Kanter spoke with Campus Compact in October and will use this opportunity to further address the relevance of civic engagement in higher education as well reaching President Obama’s 2020 goal to lead the world in college completion.

This is the second annual convening of the 22 member presidents on the Presidents Council of the MDCC. These presidents represent all segments of higher education from across Maryland. In addition to the presidents, another 175 participants are expected to attend, including vice presidents and senior advisory leaders, directors of service learning and civic engagement, and other guests. The event, which will run from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., will provide opportunities to caucus and explore how to best encourage civic engagement in higher education.
