Funding

USAID supports family planning activities through a variety of programs in more than 50 countries. In fiscal year 2011, bilateral funding for family planning and reproductive health totaled $575 million.

USAID supports a comprehensive program of assistance aimed at improving access to family planning services, especially for the poorest segments of the population. The comprehensive program includes developing new and improved methods of contraception, training of health providers, and communications that promote healthy behavior.
